Mukulu added his voice to those who were unimpressed by Pazo’s hit single “Enkudi,” whose lyrics they deemed tasteless.

Without naming Pazo directly, Mukulu reacted to the singer's famous comments about Ugandans having "lost interest in good music.”

I heard of one musicians who said he has many good songs but that people want only the bad ones….Imagine a person like that,” Mukulu retorted.

It is like saying I have very nice food at my party, but I am going to serve rotten food because that is what people want to eat! Who, between you and us is stupid?”

In May this year, Pazo caused a stir online while defending his song, saying that Ugandans don’t care about educative music anymore.

I have been singing for seven years but people are not listening…Now I brought Enkudi and that’s what they want. That's where our country stands,” Pazo said.

Even at government functions, it is Gravity who is getting invited to sing Okwepicha.

The comments sparked backlash from a number of big players in the music industry including Golden Band’s Mesach Semakula.

It is sad; our music is growing on the one hand but also being destroyed on the other,” he said.

“It is getting destroyed because people are too fixated on making hits, yet when we were coming up, our focus was on releasing a good song whether or not it becomes a hit. It was a question of, does it have a message, is it touching someone?” Semakula wondered
