Bebe Cool revealed that Bobi Wine wanted in on the Tubonga Naawe deal but they closed the door on him.

Cool said he was tasked to pick musicians to participate in the song that was used as an anthem for President Yoweri Museveni's 2016 election campaign.

Among the musicians Cool contacted was Wine who asked for a fee they couldn’t afford.

Wine left but returned when they had already approved the budget.

Bebe Cool said that Wine, who faced off with Museveni in the 2021 presidential race, was always working with the government.

He said Wine was closing deals with senior government officials even before him.

He said he and Wine would meet the former Inspector General of Police Gen. Kale Kayihura together at his home in Muyenga and police headquarters in Naguru.

According to Cool, Gen Kayihura, who was fired from the police in March 2018, was pivotal in brokering such deals.

Cool also said that Wine met Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, the senior presidential advisor on Special Operations and Chairman of MK Movement, before him.

Bebe Cool has been synonymous with the NRM campaign trails since 2006. In fact, in 2011, he shocked many by supporting Museveni over his father Jaberi Bidandi Ssali.

"And I'm the one who called all the artistes," said Cool in an interview when he was asked to comment on Spice Diana's fans attacking her for agreeing to perform at the Rukundo Egumeho Contert where Gen. Kainerugaba was the chief guest, yet she is Wine's friend.

"Even during Tubonga Naawe, I called Bobi Wine over the phone. He played games and returned when it was too late. The door had already been closed."

Added Cool: "I called everyone, but when he played games, I submitted the budget. He came a week after they had signed off the budget and the opportunity had passed."

The Tubonga Naawe song was commissioned in 2015 and it featured top artistes including Bebe Cool himself, Jose Chameleone, King Saha, Juliana Kanyomozi, Iryn Namubiru and Rema Namakula.
