Bebe Cool lists 3 reasons he stopped performing at concerts

Bebe Cool has come out to shed light on why he no longer performs at concerts. In an interview with Vybe Life Ug, the singer, dismissed the perception that his rare appearance on stage is linked to a dwindling fanbase due to his attacks to fellow artist Bobi Wine, or his support of the ruling NRM government.

The Gamamel Entertainment boss made it clear that his choice to stop performing was financially motivated.

According to the artist, he now commands a substantial fee for any show he considers. He revealed that he will not perform for less than Shs 10 million, which he feels is a fair reflection of his worth.

"I don't perform in music anymore because it is a choice I made. I turn down gigs because I ask for a lot of money. I cannot perform for less than Shs 10 million," Bebe Cool explained.

Another factor behind Bebe Cool's absence from concerts he said, is a personal shift in passion.

He admits that his enthusiasm for performing has waned over the years. While he used to enjoy being on stage, he now finds it burdensome. Even large sums of money do not reignite his previous excitement for music.

"You can pay me Shs 200 million to perform at a show, but after receiving the money, I start seeing the performance as a burden," he confessed.

In his third and final reason, Bebe Cool shared a more profound perspective on the financial gains of musicians in comparison to successful businessmen.

He noted that after analysing the earnings of top African artists, he realised that their income pales in comparison to that of high-profile entrepreneurs.

He mentioned business moguls like Sudhir Ruparelia, Ham Kiggundu, and James Mulwana as examples of individuals who have achieved substantial wealth, far beyond what the music industry offers.

"I realised that among us the musicians, the money we are making is what I would call childish money. We have not been able to make real money," he remarked.

This realisation has led Bebe Cool to shift his focus towards studying and networking with these successful businessmen, whom he now views as his "social capital."

By aligning himself with prominent business figures, he hopes to learn from their successes and potentially broaden his financial horizons beyond music.
