This year's festival, scheduled for October 18th to 20th, will be held at Jahazi Pier, Munyonyo, and promises to be an even bigger celebration, extending its reach across East Africa, including Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, and South Sudan.
The 2023 edition of Bell ObaFest attracted over 5,000 attendees, and the 2024 festival promises to raise the bar even higher.
“We intend to deliver a more memorable experience that showcases the rich culture of East Africa, allowing customers to experience how we do music, food, and beer," said Matilda Babuleka, Marketing Manager for the Beer Portfolio at Uganda Breweries Limited.
Under the campaign “This is How We Do,” Bell ObaFest continues to champion its core mission of celebrating East African culture through music, food, and beer. The festival’s expansion across multiple East African countries this year showcases a unique cultural identity while creating a platform for talent from the region.
Four Stages of Cultural Showcase
This year's festival will feature four stages:
- The Main Stage for headliner performances.
- A second stage dedicated to cultural and alternative acts.
- The DJs Arena, catering to lovers of electronic music.
- The Nexters Stage, a platform for undiscovered talent, giving upcoming artists an opportunity to perform and gain recognition.
Commitment to Inclusivity and Sustainability
Bell ObaFest’s commitment to inclusivity shines through its continued partnership with Light for the World Uganda. This collaboration aims to provide experiences catering to people with disabilities, promoting a more inclusive society. "Bell Lager has championed this agenda towards shaping a more inclusive society,” Babuleka added.
Sustainability is also a key focus, with the festival implementing waste management, recycling, and other sustainable practices to ensure a greener, more responsible festival experience.
Impact on Community Engagement
The festival goes beyond just entertainment by promoting local entrepreneurship and fostering creativity. The event will feature a food market, allowing food vendors to showcase East Africa’s diverse culinary culture, while supporting young vendors and artists. Moreover, artists from across the region will have a platform to perform and promote their craft.
