Blu*3 might be getting back together soon

Blu*3 was once respected as one of the greatest ‘girl bands’ in East and Central Africa and then they broke in 2008, the year of Barrak Obama. Now, fourteen years later, the three-woman band is rumoured to be getting back together.

Blu 3 was formed in April 2004 after winning the TV show Coca Cola Popstars.

The name arises out of three of its original members who were Jackie Chandiru, Lillian Mbabazi and Cinderella Sanyu.

After winning the Coca Cola Popstar contest, they went on to record the albums Hitaji (2004) and Burrn (2007).

The Hitaji album broke out with the hit singles "Hitaji", "Frisky" and the afro beat "Tomalaako".

Becoming a phenomenal group, which hit the ground running, Blu*3 launched Hitaji at the Lugogo Cricket Oval in December 2004.

The show was an unqualified success as they filled the sprawling place to overflowing with thousands of fans in attendance.

The "Hitaji" music video went on to win the Pearl of Africa Music Award for Video of the Year.

However, things went south from there as Cindy Sanyu left the band to pursue other projects and was replaced by Mya Baganda. The group's name was changed to Blu 3 having dropped its star.

Now, the group says that it might be getting back its three stars as Blu*3 is set to reunite.

Lillian Mbabazi posting about it asking fans, and the watching world, whether it was ready for the reincarnation of the group, as the group.

You’ll know more. Be patient. I am the worst person to ask right now. I don’t give out any information,” Lillian reportedly said when pressed for the details of the group’s potential reunion.

However, she did charitably add: “It is. It is coming.”

Anything is possible. We are in talks. I can’t say much because I will be spoiling. But many people would love to see us back together,” Jackie Chandiru chimed in.
