Clever J says he performed at Alien's concert because Pallaso despised him

Clever J. hasn't forgiven Pallaso for disrespecting him at his home.

J., real name Gerald Muwonge, was once a mainstay in the music industry, having rocked music lovers with his hit song Manziwanane released in 2006.

The crooner, who had a singing voice similar to that of his cousin Jose Chameleone, followed up the hit with another banger Ensi Yaleeta.

But he later went through some financial challenges that threw him off the limelight.

In a media interview, Clever J. said sometime back he went with his manager to visit Pallaso and they were treated with aversion.

"There's a time I visited Pallaso with my former manager MP Jesus and Pallaso told him that Clever J fell off and you've brought him here to look for a way up again," said J.

The Marembo singer said that's why he opted to perform at Alien Skin's concert instead of Pallaso's. Both concerts were held on Friday, June 9, with Skin's at Freedom City Mall and Pallaso's at Lugogo Cricket Oval.

"Fellow Ugandans, it's been a minute since I made a public appearance. They took away my phones. I lost access to my digital channels, including YouTube," he said.

"So Alien Skin's concert was a platform for me to reach my fans who hadn't seen me in a while."

Clever J. said he called Abitex to offer him a chance to sing at the show.

Who is Pallaso?

In 2004, the Team Good Music founder left for the United States of America where he hoped to start a better life.

10 years later, in 2014, he returned to Kampala to concentrate on his music career.

His return was majorly influenced by the success of Amaaso, his collabo with Weasel and Mowzey Radio.

They recorded the song from Pallaso's basement when the Goodlyfe duo traveled to Los Angeles, California, having been nominated in the 2013 BET Music Awards for Best International Act Africa.

In the year of his return, Pallaso recorded two hits -- Mundongo and Get Down Low -- with Sheebah Karungi, and he is now a mainstay in the industry.
