Pictures: Ekyoto Ha Mpango winds King Oyo's 29th coronation in style

The Ekyoto Ha Mpango Festival, organised by Talent Africa Group, capped off the celebrations of His Majesty King Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru IV’s 29th coronation anniversary with great fanfare at Buhinga Stadium. The festival, held after a historic coronation ceremony on September 12th, offered two days filled with vibrant cultural events, competitions, and performances, marking a grand finale to the Tooro Kingdom’s celebration.

Among the standout events were golfing and basketball tournaments, both of which were presided over by King Oyo himself. These competitive sports brought together participants from across the region, showcasing the kingdom’s sporting spirit. Visitors and guests also embarked on royal tours, including the Kibaale Gorilla Trekking experience, which highlighted the region's breathtaking biodiversity. Additionally, the King led a delegation on a bird-watching expedition with Princess Bagaya, further underscoring the Tooro Kingdom’s natural beauty.

The festival was also marked by a fashion gala, blending traditional and contemporary designs, and a royal dinner, both of which were presided over by Her Royal Majesty Queen Dr. Best Olimi Kemigisa Akiiki, the Queen Mother. These events showcased the kingdom’s rich cultural heritage while embracing modern artistic expressions.

One of the major highlights of the Ekyoto Ha Mpango Festival was its musical performances. Renowned Ugandan artists such as Blu 3, Fik Fameica, and Beenie Gunter took the stage, delivering electrifying performances that captivated the audience. In addition, Tooro’s finest talents, including Atwooki Richie, Muzanil Ayesiga, Tai-Tan, Irene Henda, Raya Rosette, Draei Bitsc, Hly Tremmie, and Sagio Mhza, showcased their exceptional skills. To round off the entertainment, well-known DJs Tony, DJ Bash, and DJ Hash kept the crowd energised with their sets.

Aly Allibhai, the CEO of Talent Africa Group, expressed his pride in the festival’s success, stating, “We are incredibly proud to have organised this festival, which celebrates our culture and brings people together. Our commitment to promoting Ugandan talent and heritage is unwavering, and we are grateful to everyone who participated.”

The Ekyoto Ha Mpango Festival remains a testament to the rich cultural heritage and creative spirit of the Tooro Kingdom, bringing people together in celebration of tradition and modernity.
