Gilbert Bukenya, known professionally as Instramento, was born in 2001 to Caroline Turyahebwa and John Nuwabine. His hometown is Kashumba village, located in Bukanga county, Isingiro district.

Instramento's educational journey began at Kashumba Primary School before moving on to Welden School Mbarara. It was during his S.5 year, amid the COVID lockdown and with ample time at home, that he ventured into music production. This was not his first exposure to music; he had first visited a studio to sing in S.2, as mentioned in an interview.

He sought to refine his production skills under the tutelage of JKayz and Drizzy Beats, eventually paying Drizzy Beats for professional training with his parents' financial backing.

Instramento's initial collaboration was with Mags Official, which garnered a positive reception. This exposure led to an invitation from Ivan Clean, the proprietor of Clean Sound Records, to record at his studio.

It was here that Instramento met Ambroy, with whom he produced Omuniga, a track that became a significant milestone in his career. Ambroy handled the production and vocals for Omuniga, while Instramento was responsible for mastering. Another notable production by Instramento at Clean Sound Records was Confessions, a collaborative effort between Ivan Clean and Shwento Banjo.
