The sold-out Legends of Sound concert held on June 22 at the Sheraton was historic in many aspects including the rates, with some tickets going for Shs 10 million.

Speaking about the concert success, Cindy revealed yesterday that the Blu 3 ladies, Lillian Mbabazi, Jacki Chandiru and herself were happy with the gate collections, but also how the money was shared.

The Ayokyayokya singer also confirmed that she got a bigger cut of the proceeds, because of her status.

What I can tell you is that whatever we signed off, that was what we got. There was no issue whatsoever,” Cindy responded to a question about how the concert money was shared.

"Whatever percentages we agreed upon at the beginning, that was what we got and everyone was happy with what they got."

On who took how much, Cindy admitted taking the lion’s share because of her higher rating on the music scene.

The one who has more electricity had to get more money…,” Cindy retorted with a smile.

“...because this is business; at the end of the day you have to look at it that way because although we are buddies on the streets, when we get to the stage it becomes business and there has to be some fairness. But at the end of the day, everyone was happy.”

The Blu 3 reunion concert marked the return of the talented girl group after spending more than 15 years apart.

Leaving Blu3

Cindy was forced out of the group in the mid 2000s following a misunderstanding about booking.

At the time, the three ladies were on holiday, when they got an abrupt booking for a big show in Tanzania.

Cindy, who was vacationing out of the country, refused to return home for the gig which angered her colleagues.

They ultimately threw her out of the group and replaced her with Edith Namuleme Baganda, known professionally as Mya.

Commenting about her current stature in the group, Cindy said Blu 3 ultimately came back to her for the reunion because they realised her immense energy.

They could have gone back to Mya, but they came back to me because they recognised that where I was they needed my energy and my vibe. I have nothing to prove again,” she said.
