Lilian Mbabazi announces mini-album amidst Blu*3 reunion plans

Lilian Mbabazi will release a mini-album in October after years without dropping music.

Lilian Mbabazi

"Been a while since I gave you some new music. I am so excited to let you know I have been working on my EP (extended play) called THE ONE… Can’t wait to share this new music with you October," she tweeted, accompanying the message with six heart emojis.

"We backkk [sic] baby!!!!!!"

The announcement follows the one in July about a prospective project with her Blu*3 founding members Jackie Chandiru and Cinderella Sanyu, better known as Cindy.

All the members have shown optimism about the project, but they have said nothing has materialised yet.

Jackie Chandiru has said: "What I can tell you is one thing, we… discussed that if we are meant to work together again, none of us has a problem. If Lilian calls me right now and says, Jackie let's go and work with Cindy, I will not refuse because we sorted our issues out. But in case it happens, we shall shut down a few people... You've seen Cindy on stage, you know me, you know Lilian... you put the three of us, for example in the studio, what do you expect?”

Cindy has said: "Yes, so, a reunion would be great... just to say bye to the brand Blu*3 and do it the right way... and then also it would be good business."

The singing trio met as teenagers but their collaboration lasted for only four years, so some industry analysts argue that fans didn't get enough of them.

Mbabazi said she was still in bed when this reporter called for comment. She said to call her after an hour but she didn't pick up the phone.

She joins a growing list of artistes like Rema Nakamula, Rabadaba, Allan Toniks, Karole Kasita that have released albums or plan to release albums.

She said the EP will have six songs, and the first will be released on Friday, August 26.

She said one of the songs is a collabo with "an awesome Ugandan artiste" whom she declined to name.

The album, which is the first in "almost six years", was worked on by local producers.
