Before the interviewer sought her advice to the duo, Lukoma, a former member of Obsessions and HB Toxic, was asked about issues the groups face.
She said: "It's not easy moving music with girls; women are underrated sometimes, and when you go to the studio, the producer wants to sleep with you, moving music is hard, then performing at night is difficult..."
Asked if she would join another group, she maintained her stance: "No, I can't. On my life. I'm not a great fan of girl groups. I, personally, as Hellen Lukoma, didn't have the best experience... though I learnt some good things, it isn't much good to talk about."
On advice to Kataleya and Kandle, she was frank: "They started alone. Why should I advise them? Is it me who brought them? Am I their mother? Let them try and find out themselves."
Following Lukoma's comments, there was a back-and-forth, though many observers treated it as usual industry beef to farm media attention.
Meanwhile, over the weekend rumours swirled that the duo was on the verge of breaking up and multiple reasons have since been shared as to why the Theron Music-funded girl group is teetering on the edge of extinction.
Then on Monday, January 22, UBC TV's Calvin The Entertainer, posted on X: "Some facts: Kataleya and Kandle; 1. The two girls have a ten-year running contract with Theron Music who has invested millions in the singing duo and are yet to make three years. 2. They were suspended according to company policy due to indiscipline BUT the group is not disbanded. 3. Well-calculated falsehoods are being shared in media intended to arm-twist the label to let them off the contract, a thing the company is not about to do. This is from a well-placed source."
Even Fik Fameica, who has collaborated with the duo on a song, said on Monday, January 22, that the duo is fine.
