Lydia Jazmine on why she attended Kasita album launch despite being sick

Lydia Jazmine has said she had to attend the launch of Karole Kasita's album despite being sick because Kasita is very supportive of her colleagues.

"It's today that I left home. I have not left home since Sunday. I had my last [medical] drip yesterday. Karole supports musicians. You see her everywhere," Jazmine, who has been nursing ulcers, said Thursday evening at the launch of Kasita's 11-track album at Imperial Royale Hotel in Kampala.

"She has no problem... I have seen her at all my birthday parties. Not only that. Every function you organise, Karole will be there."

On the album, which took two years to produce, Kasita features two Ugandan musicians, that is Eddy Kenzo, who recently won an award in the US for his collaboration with American R'n'B singer Matthew David Benson, aka Matt B; and Frank Mukiisa, aka Feffe Bussi.

"I'm blessed to be part of this album," Bussi said at the launch.

Kenzo also attended the launch and encouraged musicians to drop albums because there is a market for good music.

"Albums still work. We are here buying," he said.

The album was also endorsed by the Nigerian singer Tiwa Savage, who recently held a concert in Kampala.

"What's up guys! You know Limited Edition [name of the album], which means it's special. One in a million. One in a decade... stream that shit... straight away. Limited Edition by the queen," she said.

The dancehall sensation, who broke through the music industry with her 2018 single 'Yaka', also featured Kenyan crooners Arrow Boy and Red San.

Some of other celebrities that attended the launch include MC Kats, Douglas Lwanga, Nina Roz, Hellen Lukoma and Rickman Manrick.
