Meet Director Pest, the king of music video hooks

How about the storytelling in the opening of Sheebah Karungi's Kansalewo? The 'chaos' the actress Leila Kalanzi Kachapizo brings to the cinematic scene!

Both videos were made by Director Pest, born Rogers Matege. He is the founder of Grate Make Films.

Pest, who has been involved in video production for over a decade, has worked on several well-received music videos, including Nkubanja by Lydia Jazmine, Tosobola by Sheebah Karungi, which was produced by Nessim, Yegwe by Pallaso, which was produced by Nash Wonder and Mwalya Bikyi, which brought together King Saha and Gravity Omutujju, and was produced by Eno Beats.

He also filmed the video for the original version of Karole Kasita's Chekecha, which was later remixed by Winnie Nwagi and Vinka. Abantu, a song by A Pass, whose beats were made by Tyron and mixed & mastered by Baru, has a video directed by Pest.

Guwe, a song by Pallaso on which he features Rwanda's Bruce Melodie, has a video directed by Pest, and it was produced by Temp and mixed & mastered by Herbert Skillz.

Bega Bega Remix, produced by Baur and sang by Pallaso and his brother Jose Chameleone -- has visuals made by Director Pest.

Director Pest also directed the visuals of the Born in Africa remake by Eddy Kenzo, Byabangi of Chozen Becky which was produced by Crouch, Tonkedeza (Geosteady), Nkwaata (Chameleone and Papa Cidy), Tonzoleya (Sheebah & Topic Kasente), Sconto & LovLov (Fik Famieca) and Kafunda (Zagazillions).

The music video director, who hails from Fort Portal in Kabarole district, is the second born in a family of two boys and one girl. He went to Buhinga Nursery School, Tooro Boarding Primary School, Hilton School in Mukono, Lakeside College Luzira, and MacMine University where studied graphics and design.

He started production in 2011 after joining Jahlive Studios as an editor. He started Grate Make Film a year and a half after joining Jahlive.
