On Becky, he said: "She sings well, yeah, I deal with talent. That's why I don't just work with anyone.”
Wine added: "First of all, that song, she did a [TikTok] challenge of an old version with her husband. I did a challenge with my wife, and she also did the same with her husband. You know for me, I always see an opportunity to learn in everything. Learning doesn't stop,... and I was like, If we remake this song because I saw the challenges we did, racked up a lot of views, yet the song is old about eight years."
He continued: "They say wine gets better with age. It's me who pitched the idea of us doing a remix. I told her, how do you see if we remix the song? She was very happy and she told me, that would be so nice, blah, blah, blah."
The original song featured a songstress named Marion. Asked if he consulted her, he said: "When I collaborate with a musician, it's me who does everything, including costs of production... We only performed that song with Marion once. It had just come out. She took a different path, I never saw her again after that. She was a good singer, and It's always good that when you do a song together with someone, both sides work together."
He went on: "Right now, you may meet her and not even recognise her, yet you know her name. I always want to promote people I work with, and vice versa. When Chosen Becky did that challenge, I was like, eh... this is an artiste, I can easily work with because she is invested in the industry. But with Marion, I don't think it was possible to work with her again, and it seems singing wasn't her passion despite her being talented and having a good voice. So, that's how I decided to talk to Becky about the collaboration."
Mikie Wine said there won't be copyright issues with Marion because he owns all the rights.
