"Stepping into my DJ era," she tweeted Friday evening, captioning two pictures in which she is posing with a Pioneer DJ controller.

The tweet generated mixed reactions.

"Good to see young talent rising up especially young women. All the best dear," a tweep commented.

"This female DJ wave is getting hot," replied another tweep, observing the growing trend of women joining the deejaying industry.

Some of the women whose deejaying has generated social media blaze are Zahara Toto and DJ Alisha.

Toto, who attracted a following because of hosting gossip shows on TV that are always stinging celebrities, stunned her following when she decided to become a deejay. She goes by DJ Zato.

Alisha, who hails from Rwanda, also got an audience during the Covid-19 lockdown after she started uploading mixtapes on her YouTube channel Kenganda.

She would later be recognised by DJ Roja who invited her to play on NBS TV, and thereafter Black Market Records signed her. She has also deejayed fro Galaxy FM.

Both Alisha and Toto have been sneered at by some observers who say they spend more time dancing than playing music. These argue that they are probably staying relevant because the male audience like seeing them shaking booty which makes up for the weaknesses on the deejaying side.

Optimists have argued that they will learn and master the deejaying art with time.

Meanwhile, Etania said she played her first gig in Dubai.

The bubbly media personality launched into the limelight after she maneuvered her way to share the stage with Wizkid when he was performing in Kampala in 2017. Etania was noticed by the Nigerian artiste as security tried to block her and he called her for a hug.
