In the song, Kanyomozi, 42, talks about marriage and the qualities of a good husband while taking a swipe at traditional norms like bride price. Its video is packed with events from a traditional marriage ceremony.
In her typical piercing voice, she renders: "I'm asking, how is the baby? I chose well, how do you see my lover? Now know that you've made me international... that you'll never embarrass me... I tattoed you on my neck... I'm saying bye."
She continues: "You will now be a child of this family... they shouldn't bargain because there is no selling... mum, this is my person... You laid a foundation and showed that you don't lie."
The song's lyrics are mostly in Luganda, so the above is a translation.
It was produced by Nessim and the video was directed by Marvin Musoke of Swangz Avenue.
It will definitely appeal to people organising weddings, introduction ceremonies and anything in that line.
Omwana gives the same vibe as Rema Namakula’s latest hit single Ngonze, which was also produced by Nessim.
Rema’s smooth-sounding ballad, which was written by Owenam and had its video directed by Edrine Paul, has become a staple at weddings.
Juliana Kanyomozi made an excellent comeback in the music industry last year with a well-attended concert held at Kampala Serena Hotel on August 19.
Despite having one of the most highly-regarded music catalogs in Uganda, she hadn't held a concert in eight years.
“It has not been intentional. It's been life and... it's life that has sometimes taken me away from the industry… It's not been deliberate that I wake up and decide not to hold a show,” she about why she had taken backstage in the music industry.
