New Miss Tourism Buganda Hannah Nabakungulu tags victory on hard work

In the wee hours of Saturday May 27th, Miss Nabakungulu from Buddu County was unveiled as the new queen at the finals held at Club Ambiance in Bukasa.

After hours of beauty and talent shows and quizzes, Nabakungulu emerged winner, beating 33 other ladies representing the 18 counties.

She, together with the two runners-up Favour Nantongo from Kyaggwe and Hilda Namulwana will head straight through to the national finals slated for September 2023.

Speaking about her triumph, Nabakungulu attributed it to her own hard work and faith in God.

I encourage all the young people to stick to their God and to always give everything toward achieving their set goals,” she said. “When you work hard and put in all your efforts, you will never fail.”

The night’s guest of honor, Princess Victoria Nkinzi thanked the organizers and stressed the importance of the regional Miss Tourism competitions in amplifying cultures and traditions, as well as supporting protection of the environment.

“Through activities like these, we teach our young people about their culture and traditional practices including language, dance, food and behavior,” she said.

This year, Miss Tourism Uganda is marking 11 years. The finals on September 9th will attract queens from 12 regions.

Miss Tourism Uganda CEO Aisha Nagudi says the competition, themed “Greening Tourism” will focus on the achievements of Miss Tourism Uganda in the past decade in addition to promoting nature.
