- Music producer Abdul Karim Muchwa, also known as Producer Didi, denies rumors of his death
- Didi is refuting reports after photos of him looking emaciated surfaced online
- He mentioned Coco Finger, Pallaso, and Eddy Kenzo as supportive colleagues in the music industry
A section of social media bloggers led the way, alleging that the ‘My Miss’ producer had passed on Thursday morning after a series of photos showing the once bubbly producer in an emaciated state surfaced online.
“You can’t make a public announcement of such calibre before confirming the truth. I have no words for them,” Didi noted.
Recovering
Didi affirmed that he is getting stronger and responding positively to medication.
“I was feeling very weak but I’m now gaining strength. I have friends around who are supportive and helpful. I’m getting stronger but I still need to give myself time,” he said.
He mentioned singers Coco Finger, Pallaso, and Eddy Kenzo as music industry colleagues who have reached out to him.
“There are some artists who come around and check on me, like Coco Finger and Pallaso. Eddy Kenzo sent me financial support,” he said.
He further confirmed that he is unapologetic about coming out about his HIV/AIDS status and sharing his struggles with medication.
“If you decide to come out and show the world the truth, go all out. Did you expect me to come out as an AIDS patient and yet look healthy? That would inspire people to get infected. The societal mindset is to sugarcoat the bitter truth but how can I when facing such a reality?” He added.
Didi was one of the biggest music producers of the 2010s and produced a number of hit songs like ‘Mikono wagulu’ by Coco Finger and ‘Stamina’ by Kenzo, among others.
