'Ronald Mayinja came back to sell my land,' says ex-lover

The woman named Joyce “Jojo” Nagawa ran to the press claiming that Mayinja returned from the UK this week to reclaim the land title which he gifted her and even changed to her names.

Nagawa says she was not even aware that the singer was back in the country until she was tricked into meeting him and his lawyers.

“A woman called to meet me at a location and on getting there, I found Mayinja waiting with his lawyer,” she said.

“They threatened to have me arrested and even tried to force me to sign some papers.”

Nagawa says she met and started dating Mayinja back in 2002, and even joined his band.

“He liked how I looked and my business acumen and gifted me the land when we started dating,” she said.

The land in question is on Plot 2227, Block 183 in Bulindo.

After handing over the land to her and even having the title changed to her names, Nagawa says they both embarked on developing the plot by setting up apartments on it.

Later on, she says, Mayinja came to her asking that she take up a Shs. 75 million loan from the bank using the title, which she did.

The loan repayment, however, became problematic and up to now, she says, the title is still with the bank, with an outstanding amount of Shs 35 million.

Nagawa says, however, that she was shocked when Mayinja returned from abroad saying he wanted his title back.

In an audio exchange between the two, Mayinja is heard insisting that the land belongs to him and that he has its documentation.

“Whatever you owe me is well documented; it is unfortunate that you are trying to make me look bad in public,” he said.
