Totto, known professionally as DJ Zato, said without hesitation that this is the one thing she feels rueful about.
“I wish I was guided differently not to become a mother that early,” she said.
“It is the same thing that I want to tell all the young ladies out there; that you don’t need to rush. Men are there, those who will marry you are out there.”
Mistakes from the past
Totto whose real names are Zahara Nalumansi got married at a young age.
In previous interviews, she has admitted suffering hardships in this marriage where she also produced children.
She says she didn't get anything from the first marriage apart from the kids.
Speaking in line with this year’s Women’s Day commemoration, Totto advised young women not to rush into marriages and having babies.
Rather, she says, all young women deserve a chance to enjoy life to its fullest, and relegate childbearing to late in life.
“If you panic and produce for that man, you will certainly regret it later on.”
“Women are carrying along mental illness simply because they were rejected by their men when they got pregnant. Young girls are out there struggling, some have lost their jobs, others abandoned by friends.”
Totto also cites western female celebrities who partied through their entire youth without regret.
“You look at people like Kim Kardashian, they have had babies in their 40years after enjoying their lives to the fullest. Remember that if you miss a stage in life, that is how you end up dating younger boys when you are much older,” she warned.
