It is being touted as a game changer in boosting sanitation, especially in communities grappling with poor sanitation and hygiene infrastructure.

The SATO I-Trap Toilet Connection System offers numerous benefits that set it apart from conventional toilet systems.

“The product has an advanced design that minimizes odours and effectively keeps flies and other vectors away, ensuring a more hygienic environment. It is cost-effective, easy to install and maintain, and is built to last. It reduces the security risks associated with distant latrines and can be easily adapted to conventional porcelain toilet systems,” Mr. Kayondo adds.

In addition, the SATO I-Trap Toilet Connection System supports the usage of less water per flush compared to traditional toilet systems, contributing to water conservation efforts.

Eng. Sam Mutono, chairman of the National Sanitation Working Group, commended SATO Uganda for its innovative approach to sanitation.

He emphasized the importance of effective marketing and community engagement to ensure the product’s success.

We need to have good salespeople with communication and selling skills to build strong relationships with the community,” Mutono said.

Mutono also called on the government and its partners to support and finance initiatives like the SATO I-Trap system, which aims to close the sanitation gap.

The government and other partners need to channel resources to private sector actors who bring products and services to households at affordable prices,” he urged.

Achiro said her organization continues to work with SATO to set up distribution channels in Kampala and other parts of the country.

She also commended the company for carrying out extensive research and accepting feedback from the people which has helped them come up with such innovative products.

According to The Annual Health Sector Performance Report 2021/2022, the population practising open defecation is 22% in rural areas and 1% in urban areas. This means that one out of four people in Uganda practices open defecation.

“Poverty is one of the major causes of poor sanitation, so we have worked hard to develop a solution that is cost-effective for all our products. Our product is accessible to all our clients across Uganda. The SATO I-Trap Toilet Connection System has been tested and will meet the needs of the public to look out for high quality and durability,” Mr. Kayondo said in conclusion.
