Ugandans on social media over the weekend gave their opinions, mostly praising the brevity of First Daughter Diana Kyaremera Museveni for speaking openly about her failed marriage.

Diana, the last born of President Museveni confirmed last Saturday that she had parted ways with her husband and father of her three children, businessman Geoffrey Kamuntu.
The two had been together for nearly 18 years.
"I have tried to keep my divorce private and out of the public sphere for the sake of my children," Kyaremera posted an Instagram story along with pictures of court documents confirming the dissolution of her marriage.
"As you all know, divorce is a very difficult thing, especially when there are children involved…"I ask that the public continues to pray for my family as we move forward from this difficult time and that you will respect our privacy.”
The divorce happened two years ago
The court papers showed that Diana and Geoffrey’s marriage was dissolved by the Principal Judge, Dr. Flavian Zeija, on February 17, 2022.
The papers further reveal that Diana hired her brother-in-law Edwin Karugire as her lawyer in the divorce matter.
Rumours started moving around the same time, when Diana filed in the National Identification and Registration Authority to have her name changed from Diana Kamuntu to Diana Kyaremera Museveni.
Ugandans speak out
Meanwhile, Ugandans in response to the divorce confirmation, sent out messages of consort to Diana.
“I know divorce isn’t an easy decision more so if both parties have children together. But I pray God comfort’s this couple during this time,” wrote one Farid Koire.
One Marc Smiles wrote; “Sad news to see 18 years go down the drain.”
Sunday Sserunjoji posted, “It happens, marriage is trial and error. Hope both of them find peace and themselves one day”
