Many took to social media with divided opinions on the marriage between the two lovers.

Some of the commentators accused Mao of snatching another man’s wife citing claims by Beatrice’s former husband Martin Kayanja.

But Mao in a short message on Thursday, inferred that he had to be brave to proceed with this marriage undertaking.

"If you are afraid, don't do it, if you do it, don't be afraid,” Mao shared a quote on his social media along with a picture from the function.

Beatrice currently serves as a Research Assistant at the Opposition Democratic Party (DP).

Both she and Mao recently divorced their partners.

They reportedly started dating around 2020, when Beatrice left her husband Martin in London to return to Uganda.

When reports started swirling about her and Mao being an item, the opposition party spoke out vehemently denying the allegations.

Her then-husband Kayanja launched an online campaign accusing her of promiscuity and abandoning her children to run off with Mao.

Two years later, she filed for divorce at the Kampala High Court in which she claimed irreconcilable differences with Kayanja.

Mao, on the other hand, divorced his wife of three children, Naomi Achieng Adong in 2019. They had been married for 16 years.
