Social commentary is an element of a narrative that levels a comment, usually a critique, on societal issues or general society as a whole. Any issue relating to or ingrained aspects of a society can be a target of this commentary.

Apart from journalistic reporting, social commentary on events and news, like Zungululu, is a common way people share humorous perspectives on events and news.
