Why she will make you raise a child that’s not yours

Some laboratories charge Shs385,000 to conduct such a test, so while costly, it's less than raising a child and finding out seven years later that the child is not yours.

According to TV presenter Diane Nabimanya, a woman will lie to a man about paternity so the child doesn't suffer while growing up.

"You see... I can have a child with Makumbi [placeholder] well-knowing that he has no money," Nabimanya, who was sharing her opinion during SheTalk, a lifestyle show on Sanyuka TV she co-hosts with Sandra Lian and Mildred Tracy, said.

"So, I decide to give the child to Musoke [placeholder]. Because I'm sure Musoke will buy porridge. Makumbi is poor but he has game."

During the show in which they hosted TV presenter and musician Crysto Panda, Nabimanya also shared a story of a guy who unknowingly raised another man's child and found out when the child was six years old.

"The issue of kids has become very serious. I know of a guy who looked after a kid thinking it was his," she said, adding that the child grew up to look like a different man.

"When people said that the child looks like another man, the woman cried the whole night and she later told him the truth. But this is six years later," she added.

Nabimanya, who recently got married, said that when she looks back on how much she and her husband have spent raising their child, she feels for men and women who find themselves in such a position.

"I've seen how my husband has struggled with me and the baby... our child is two years. But if I were to calculate [how much we've spent], we are close to Shs2 million," she said.

Meanwhile, while not affordable, it's always important to carry out a DNA paternity test to be sure if you are the father. Some laboratories charge Shs385,000 to conduct such a test, so while costly, it's less than raising a child and finding out seven years later that the child is not yours.
