Mivule has been a field reporter and host of the weekend political talk show "Ebigambo Tebitta" at the Kampala Serena-based TV station.

He is reportedly taking on a new role as the Personal Assistant of the Leader of Opposition (LOP) in Charge of Communications and Publicity.

Joel Ssenyonyi who previously worked at NTV, was named the Leader of Opposition in Parliament in December last year, replacing Hon Mathias Mpuuga.

Since then, Ssenyonyi has been relying on the services of another senior journalist Sadab Kitatta Kaaya, who was Mpuuga’s press assistant.

Mivule now joins a list of journalists who have made it big working at Parliament including former Daily Monitor and KFM’s Chris Obore who is now the Parliamentary spokesperson, NTV’s Agnes Nanduttu now serving in Cabinet as Minister of State for Karamoja Affairs, and NBS’s Joseph Sabiiti who is now Speaker Anitah Among’s Press Assistant.

This reporter has learnt that LOP Ssenyonyi recently had a private meeting with the leadership of the Parliamentary Press Association where he promised to “transform” the careers of some of the reporters working at Parliament.

Already, CBS FM’s Charles Mugerwa has been taken up at the communications assistant for Hon Francis Zaake, the Shadow Minister for Presidency and Security.

It is now believed that a few more reporters might soon see some lucrative appointments.

Other NTV journalists who have recently left for greener pastures include Herbert Zziwa, now the spokesperson of the National Building Review Board (NBRB), Olivia Komugisha, now the spokesperson of Reproductive Health Uganda and Frank Walusimbi, who is working as the spokesman for UN refugee agency UNHCR.
