The incident happened at around 3:00 PM today, October 22, 2024, when the fuel tanker overturned and caught fire in Kigogwa Town, along the Kampala-Bombo road in Kasangati, Wakiso District.
Rescue operations led by the Uganda Police are ongoing following the explosion of a fuel track on the Kampala-Bombo Road.

According to Kampala Police spokesperson Patrick Onyango, the incident has resulted in multiple casualties, with several people feared dead and others injured.
The exact number of casualties has not yet been confirmed, but emergency response teams were quickly dispatched to the scene.
Onyango says a multi-agency effort is currently underway, with teams working tirelessly to manage the situation.
10 dead bodies
Speaking at the scene, Kampala North DPC Mr Moses Nanoka confirmed that at least 10 bodies had been recovered by police rescuers.
The Police also rushed to hospital at least 12 people according to the DPC.
He also said that the majority of the causalities were people who rushed to collect fuel when the truck over turned.
He suspects that the fire might have been started from a stove of a woman who was roasting maize nearby.
The response includes fire brigade trucks, four 999 patrol cars, police ambulances, Red Cross ambulances, and assistance from sister security forces.
