Last weekend Gen Sejusa, formerly known as Tinyefuza, went off on people who supposedly wanted him to quit social media.
Former Head of Uganda’s Military Intelligence, Gen David Sejusa might be retired and well settled into ordinary life, but he still knows how to crank his voice whenever nonsense is aimed his way.
Since being released from jail back in 2016, Sejusa had vanished off the political scene, before he opened a Twitter page shortly afterwards.
Through the platform, the 68 year old has been able to channel his views mostly on philosophy and world politics. Oftentimes but rather infrequently, Sejusa has also weighed in on some of the hot topics about Ugandan affairs, mostly answering questions from users who seek his opinions.
But last week, Sujusa had no niceties as he sounded off on someone who went into his inbox to demand that he quits the platform.
“Some fool today came to my DM and advised me to leave Twitter and go set up a consultancy and become a barrister or solicitor there”, he said
“The (clown) doesn't know I am a retired 4-star General.”
On the platform, Sejusa boasts of over 50,000 followers, several of whom backed him up on the take-down.
“In real life, such a person would never have had a single chance in a million to get your attention. I don't know whether that’s what is called freedom of speech,” responded one James Nabaasa.
Sejusa retired from the UPDF the army in August last, bringing to an end a decades-long feud with the governing establishment and President Yoweri Museveni, which had forced him into exile, and later got him tried before the Military Court Martial on charges of participating in political activities, insubordination and absconding from duty .
