The two were welcomed by NRM Secretary General, Richard Todwong in Nakasero saying that their potential will be utilised for the benefit of the party.
Uganda People's Congress' (UPC) Caxton Etii of Erute South in Lira district and Kenneth Eitunganane from Soroti county have left opposition to join National Resistance Movement (NRM) saying that opposition is a mad house and NRM is rehabilitation.
Todwong presided over the conversion saying that the legislators will receive guidance and support to integrate them in the party. From this, they will be able to transform themselves and their communities.
"These are well-qualified people, and the party hopes to hugely benefit from their contributions," he said.
The legislators accused the opposition of lacking a clear ideology that informs their activities and principals. That compared to NRM that is implementing projects like the Parish Development Model (PDM) to improve the lives of Ugandans, the opposition is a confused crowd according to Eitunganane.
Eitunganane was attracted to the progressive leadership displayed by the yellow camp in contrast to the passive opposition.
“My desire to join the mass party is due to its clear core ideological principles of nationalism, pan-Africanism, democracy, and socio-economic transformation as compared to the opposition parties,” he said.
Etii applauded President Museveni for not turning away those who approach the party to join. The director of mobilisation at the NRM secretariat, Rosemary Nansubuga Seninde, backed Etii restating that the part is open to receive all persons who cherish their principals.
She commended the two for joining on the basis of shared values that have held the country together through the years.
