Former Attorney General Prof. Kiddu Makubuya dies

Former Attorney General Prof. Kiddu Makubuya has sadly passed away at the age of 75. Reports indicate that he died at Nakasero Hospital.

Prof. Makubuya was a distinguished academic and politician, holding a Doctor of Juridical Science from Yale Law School. He served as the Member of Parliament for Katikamu South constituency in Luwero District.

Born on July 30, 1949, Prof. Makubuya began his academic career at Makerere University, where he worked as a special assistant in the Faculty of Law from 1974 to 1975. In 1979, he was promoted to lecturer, a role he held until 1982 when he advanced to senior lecturer. By 1984, he had earned the title of associate professor. Alongside his academic pursuits, he was also a partner at the private law firm Kasolo & Khiddu Advocates.

Prof. Makubuya’s political career included serving as Minister for General Duties in the Office of the Prime Minister. He stepped down from the cabinet on 16th February 2012.

  • Completed his Diploma in Legal Practice at the Law Development Center between 1981 and 1982.
  • Enrolled as an advocate of the Uganda High Court in 1985.
