In a statement issued on Monday, October 21, Police Spokesperson Kituuma Rusoke said, "Let me introduce you to the officer many of you saw on social media, braving the rain to carry out his traffic duties at the Mawanda Road-John Babiiha Road intersection.

"He demonstrated remarkable dedication to his responsibilities, and we have received numerous reports praising his enthusiasm and commitment to duty.

"I would like to convey the Inspector General of Police's message of appreciation for his patriotic spirit and further inform you that his positive attitude will be recognised and rewarded."

Tusiime's dedication caught public attention after a video of him at work was shared on social media.

Eric Mboowa, one of the netizens who shared the video, captioned it: "This guy must be one of the best Traffic Officers in Uganda. Isn’t he the same guy who used to be at the City Oil Junction in Kamwokya?"

Comedian Patrick Salvado also posted: "Dear IGP, this gentleman in your force deserves a medal 🏅 and promotion. He is one of the few traffic officers who does his job with passion and sacrifice. Come rain or sunshine, he performs his duties beyond expectations. I use Mawanda Road daily, but on the days he works, traffic flows exceptionally well because of his efforts. He is our hero. A promotion is well-deserved to motivate others."

On Monday, the Minister of Science and Innovation, Dr. Monica Musenero, accompanied by clerics from the Inter-religious Council of Uganda (IRCU), led by Bishop Joshua Lwere, visited Abdallah Tusiime. The bishop noted that the IRCU is willing to sponsor his firstborn’s education up to university. IRCU and the minister also offered him financial support.
