Fort Portal, Uganda – Anticipation is building as the second edition of the Ekyooto Ha Mpango Festival gears up to transform Fort Portal into a vibrant hub of cultural celebration and tourism from September 13th to 14th, 2024. Officially launched at a press conference on August 8th, 2024, at the Mucwa Parliament, the festival promises a dynamic lineup of events that will highlight the rich heritage of the Tooro Kingdom.

The festival, organized by Talent Africa Group in partnership with the Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife, and Antiquities, aims to promote tourism, cultural exchange, and economic growth in the region. This year's edition follows the success of the 2021 hybrid festival held during the lockdown and seeks to elevate the Tooro region as a premier tourism destination in Africa.

One of the festival's main attractions is the music festival set for September 14th. It will feature performances by prominent artists from the Tooro Kingdom and special guest performers from across Uganda and beyond. The lineup includes the legendary female group BLU 3 and local talents such as Titan, Irene Hinda, Rosette, Ayesiga, Draei Bitsc, Holy Trimmy, Sagio Mhza, and Home of Talent. These performances will create an atmosphere of unity and celebration, drawing music lovers from near and far.

Sports enthusiasts can look forward to an exciting day of basketball and golf tournaments on September 13th. These events are designed to promote healthy competition and camaraderie among participants and spectators. The same evening, fashion lovers will be treated to a glamorous fashion gala showcasing the creativity and innovation of leading designers and models. This event will blend contemporary fashion with traditional styles, offering a visual feast for attendees.

Throughout the festival, visitors will have the chance to immerse themselves in the cultural heritage of the Tooro Kingdom through a series of cultural experiences and performances. Traditional dances, storytelling, and artisanal crafts will provide a deeper understanding and appreciation of the region's history and customs.

An exclusive Royal Tour, led by His Majesty King Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV, alongside the Minister of Tourism and other high-level delegates, will showcase some of the Tooro Kingdom's most breathtaking tourism destinations. This tour aims to highlight the natural beauty and attractions of the area, further cementing Fort Portal's reputation as a jewel of the Pearl of Africa.

Deputy Prime Minister of Tooro Kingdom, Abwooli Harriet Nyakaka, emphasized the festival's potential to boost the local economy.

"Fort Portal is the jewel of the Pearl of Africa. Ekyooto Ha Mpango Festival will help boost the local economy, providing significant opportunities for sectors such as tourism, accommodation, hospitality, and local businesses. We believe that by bringing people together to celebrate our culture, we can foster economic growth and create lasting benefits for local businesses," she said.

Aly Allibhai, CEO of Talent Africa Group, highlighted the festival's role in uniting communities and promoting tourism.
