This news was received with mixed reactions online, with one Stella wondering, “What are schools trying to prove these days?”

Others, however, showed support stressing that wealthy parents should be free to treat their children as they see fit.

In May this year, the government of Uganda through the Ministry of Education was compelled to issue a warning about extravagance in schools, after a parent chattered a helicopter ride for his son to make a grand entry at Elite High School’s Prom party.

Minister of State for Higher Education John Chrysostom Muyingo said parents should not be allowed to waste scarce resources in this manner.
