President Yoweri Museveni on Sunday, July 28, presented Mzee Daudi Bangirana, the father of Deputy Speaker of Parliament Thomas Tayebwa, with five Friesian cows.
This gesture was made during a celebration of Bangirana's 80th birthday and 48 years of marriage.

The event took place in Nyamiyaga, Bitereko, Ruhinda-Mitooma District, where Tayebwa and his friends funded the construction of a Shs2.7 billion state-of-the-art church for St. Karoli Lwanga Rugarama Catholic Parish.

Museveni praised Daudi Bangirana for his hard work and commitment to educating his children, who have become responsible citizens.

Tayebwa, who inaugurated the newly built church, revealed that a substantial portion of the funds—Shs1.7 billion—was raised during a 30-minute meeting with his friends from the business community.

Speaker of Parliament Anita Among, accompanied by her husband Moses Magogo, commended Tayebwa’s intelligence and humility.

She remarked, "Mzee Daudi Bangirana, we are grateful for giving us a brilliant and down-to-earth young man in the name of Rt. Hon Thomas Tayebwa. We also thank the people of Mitooma for providing us with a leader in Tayebwa."

She added, "He is one Deputy Speaker who understands his role. He is very humble and approachable. Please return him to Parliament in the next election. I have only one term to serve as Speaker, and I would hand it over to Hon. Tayebwa."

Tayebwa, who serves as the MP for Ruhinda North County in Mitooma District, built the church in memory of his late grandmother, Julita Kaijarubi Tiruhongyerwa.

She raised him from the age of six, instilling in him strong religious values, a solid work ethic, and a commitment to education.
