Museveni promotes 918 UPDF officers

President Yoweri Museveni promoted 898 officers and confirmed 20 ranks in the Uganda Peoples' Defence Forces
Five Colonels were promoted to Brigadier General, and three Acting Colonels were confirmed as Colonels
Fifteen Lieutenant Colonels have been promoted to the rank of Colonel, and three Acting Lieutenant Colonels confirmed as Lieutenant Colonels

In the latest promotion confirmed on Wednesday, 898 officers have been promoted, while 20 have had their ranks confirmed.

“His Excellency the President and Commander in Chief of the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces has promoted 898 and confirmed 20 Senior and Junior Officer ranks of the UPDF. The Ministry of Defence and Veteran Affairs and UPDF fraternity congratulates the Senior and Junior Officers upon their well-deserved promotions and confirmed ranks,” Brigadier General Felix Kulayigye, the Director Defence Public Information stated on Wednesday.

At least five experienced Colonels were elevated to the prestigious rank of Brigadier General, while three Acting Colonels were confirmed as Colonels. Fifteen Lieutenant Colonels have been promoted to the rank of Colonel, and three Acting Lieutenant Colonels have been confirmed as Lieutenant Colonels.

The promotions also extend to the lower ranks, with 650 Second Lieutenants confirmed as Lieutenants, I55 Lieutenants promoted to Captain.

63 officers at the rank of captain have been promoted to the rank of major. Four officers in the position of acting Colonel have been confirmed full colonels.
