Red Cross first responders retrieve a body from the collapsed landfill

The city landfill yesterday collapsed following heavy rainfall that triggered a landslide.

Search and rescue efforts carried on until 2:00 am last night, for people trapped in the houses covered by the collapsed garbage dump.

At least 12 bodies and several injured people were retrieved by different teams including the Uganda Police, Uganda Red Cross and residents.
