Minister Anite while responding to multiple followers online yesterday, accepted their invite to be part of the protest, writing “I am in,” and “yes” on whether she would attend.
Anite has been vocal in the news and online recently about combating corruption in government.
Weeks ago, she went public about a fight she had with the leadership of the Uganda Investment Authority (UIA) which falls under her docket.
She accused its Director General Robert Mukiza and a handful of other employees of illegally awarding themselves UGX 500m Honoraria out of a loan meant for the Namanve Infrastructure Development.
Mukiza however, claimed the payment was part of the contract.
The fight made it to the desk of President Museveni who subsequently called the parties for a meeting and later ordered Mukiza to refund the money.
The minister celebrated this order, posing on X, “Thank you, Mr. President, for saving Ugandans a loss of £8m through UIA and for ensuring that the UG 546m Honoraria of Robert Mukiza and UIA staff took shall be recovered. I love you and shall always support you, my president."
This Monday evening, Hon Anite will be hosting a Space on her X account where she will delve into details of her ongoing war on corruption.
