The MP was released from Amsterdam UMC Hospital on Friday, September 15.

Finally, I’m out,” announced the legislator, before thanking his party, the National Unity Platform (NUP) through its Amsterdam Chapter which has been taking care of him.

Over the past few weeks, the legislator said a lot of improvement had been recorded.

Hon Ssegirinya was flown out of the country at the start of last month after he was reportedly diagnosed with a host of complications including tumors in his lungs.

He was initially admitted to a hospital in Germany before being referred to the Dutch hospital.

Communicating from his hospital bed, the MP revealed that he was among others being treated for skin cancer, and several complications to his liver.

In mid August, Hon Ssegirinya complained about being abandoned by his party and Parliament as his hospital bill skyrocketed.

Subsequently, fellow legislator Muhammad Ssegirinya of Kampala Central started a fundraising campaign to foot the hospital bill, which angered the NUP leadership.

Later on, both the opposition party and Parliament announced plans to help the Kawempe MP with his bill.

The two entities said Ssegirinya, while rushing abroad, skipped key procedures that would have ensured that the government caters for his treatment outside the country.
