The wedding ceremony where the monarch will officially unveil the queen to the public will take place on November 18, 2023, at Christ Cathedral, Bugembe.
But because of the limited space at Bugembe and the fact that President Museveni will be the chief celebrant, the organizing committee revealed that ordinary people will not be able to witness the event physically.
“The president has confirmed attendance, and so the people who will be there will be very few. Even those invited for the reception at Igenge will be few,” announced Hon Milly Babalanda, the Minister for Presidency and member of the organizing committee.
“We have decided that we hold celebrations in the different counties that make up the kingdom. We shall put big screens where you will be able to watch it live,” she said
“And don't worry about missing out; the food we shall serve at Igenge is the same that will be at other parties in the counties; same for the drinks, the music, and performances. We are also organizing busiki parties and we are inviting you all to these parties. We want to make a wedding for the history books.”
The royal wedding organizing committee is chaired by Eng. Patrick Batumbya, the proprietor of MBW Consulting, a construction consulting firm, and is deputized by Martin Tibalira, a Jinja-based businessman.
