The register update campaign reported witnessed a significant surge in party membership, with registrations exceeding expectations.

The Minister said yesterday that the overwhelming response suggested a potential shift in voter allegiance, with many residents seemingly acknowledging their past electoral choices, having voted overwhelmingly for the opposition National Unity Platform.

Many people have registered; in fact, they were asking for more days and that was why the exercise was extended to Tuesday,” Minister Kaboyo highlighted.

We assure them that the NRM government is with them, after all this is the Mecca of the NRM,” Minister Kaboyo emphasized.

According to Ronald Ndawula, the NRM district chairman for Luwero, the party as of the last election had only 115,000 registered voters.

But with the last register update, he said this number has grown to over 200000.

Very many people turned up, the registers were exhausted and we had to resort to using ordinary papers. We believe that if the days were further extended, this number could have been above 300000,” Ndawula said.

Earlier, the Minister had a meeting with District Chairpersons, RDCs, CAOs, RPCs, DPCs, and DISOs, from Greater Luwero at the Luwero Regional Offices.

In her remarks, Kaboyo advised the leaders to avoid wasting time politicking but to synergize on ways of transforming their people.

Let's work together and develop our country. As for me, I don't mind working with anybody from another political party, religion, colour, or tribe as long as we are the same cause of developing our country and they are respectful,” she said.

In the meeting, the district leaders raised concerns about some of the bottlenecks they face in executing their roles.

Among these was the issue of companies which get too many contracts for projects and end up missing deadlines due to lack of capacity.

One of the RDCs also complained about people who are defaulting on the Emyooga and PDM loans, many of whom are surprisingly leaders.

On this, Minister Kaboyo encouraged them to double their efforts to sensitize communities to pay back the loans for other people to benefit.

Regarding some of the presidential pledges, Minister Kaboyo reassured the leaders that the road from Wobulenzi Town Council to Bukalasa Agricultural College is set to be worked on starting this year.

The Minister revealed that the road has been budgeted for this financial year and that the President had instructed her to follow it up with the Works Ministry.
