PC Alex Adei was arrested this Monday morning after he shot and killed his wife at the Naguru Police barracks.
Police in Kampala are probing yet another femicide case involving one of its officers.

Adei is attached to the Counter-Terrorism Unit of the Police.
Information about the circumstances of this murder was still scanty by the publication of this report.
Kampala police spokesperson Luke Owoyesigire said bullets rang in the barracks which alerted the community to gather in response.
The incident, he said, left the community in shock.
This brings to two, the number of women murdered in cold blood in Kampala in less than 24 hours.
Earlier on Sunday, Agnes Nantongo, the manager at African Oil Petrol Station was killed while jogging in the morning hours and her body was dumped in Kamuli A’ Zone, Kireka, along the Northern Bypass.
According to the police, Nantongo was last seen leaving her workplace on Saturday at around 7 P.M., wearing the same clothes that were found on her body the following morning.
"At about 8 A.M. today, passersby found a lifeless woman lying in the roadside shrubbery and notified the authorities," Onyango said. The police swiftly arrived at the scene and began investigations.
The police are investigating the circumstances surrounding Nantongo’s death.
Officers on rampage
Cases of members of the armed forces murdering their spouses are not uncommon in Uganda.
Over the past years, there have been multiple such murders taking place in police and military barracks.
In February this year, Cpl Collins Andebo shot dead his wife, Peroni Aturinda in Makindye military barracks and later committed suicide.
In another case, Maj Gordon Joel Atwebembeire, a senior UPDF officer killed his wife, Marion Tukamuhebwa, in October 2022. Following the incident, he was reported to have burned her body on a farm in Sembabule District. Atwebembeire later confessed to the crime and expressed remorse, stating that he was sorry for what happened. The case is currently being heard in the Army Court
Another incident occurred in August 2023, involving UPDF soldier Henry Odwani. He shot his wife, Grace, dead and subsequently killed himself. The tragic incident happened in Kitgum District.
In October 2014 in Mubende, Sgt Byamukama Jackson opened fire, killing his wife Annet Atananyi following a fight over money.
UPDF has advised soldiers to seek counselling services to prevent similar incidents arising from domestic disputes and psychological issues.
