Museveni further called out the legislator for “speaking like children” during a funeral service held for the later Simon Aleper, the former Moroto MP who died in a car crash.

The head of state took issue with Hon Ssewungu’s comments about the cause of the accident.

During a special parliamentary plenary session earlier on Thursday, Ssewungu blamed the crash on the narrowness of the Iganga -Tirinyi highway.

He said if the road had been duo-carriage (four lanes), the former MP would have survived.

Museveni however, questioned Hon Ssewungu’s intelligence during today’s funeral service at the NRM party headquarters.

Childish talk

He wondered how the Kalungu MP could be talking of duo carriage roads when other important roads in Eastern Uganda have not been worked on.

I saw one joker…I think he is called Ssewungu… last night when you were talking about Aleper,” Museveni said.

“I know Ssewungu from intelligence…he and others who are not so useful, I always follow them up.

He was saying that because we have two-lane roads, that is why we have accidents. He said that we should go to four lanes. These are adults who talk like children.

Museveni added, “We are struggling to tarmac other roads…such as the Moroto-Kotido, Kotido-Kaabongo and Kaabong Kidepo which have not been tarmacked, this one is talking of four lanes. What sort of people are these?” Museveni wondered

“And they call them leaders and honourable

Hon Aleper who was traveling to Kampala to attend an NRM CEC meeting was reportedly driving himself in the V8 Land Cruiser number UAP 787Q.

Museveni said the deceased might have dozed off on the steering wheel, citing information he received from the scene.
