During the meeting which was also attended by Deputy President William Ruto, the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection to streamline operations of the Child Welfare Society of Kenya and those of children homes in the country.
This comes after the Director of Public Prosecutions, Noordin Haji, directed Inspector-General of Police Hillary Mutyambai to open investigations on allegations of child neglect and misappropriation of public funds at the Child Welfare Society of Kenya.
Abuse of children
A story by KTN News exposed how children under the CWSK were being abused, mistreated, exploited and lived in deplorable conditions.
According to the investigative piece, CWSK was using vulnerable children for profit, subjecting them to more misery and minting millions in the process.
CWSK Chairperson Shakila Abdalla distanced herself from the child neglect allegations that have rocked the State agency saying she had been kept in the dark about operations of the agency.
