Flavia Namulindwa, the former Bukedde TV presenter and aspiring Member of Parliament for Gomba County East, has filed a matrimonial cause in the Family Division of the High Court, seeking legal redress against her longtime partner, Charles Mpagi Kanyike.

Namulindwa claims that Kanyike, who has allegedly failed to fulfil his promise to marry her, has caused emotional and financial distress in their relationship.

She has hired renowned Democratic Party Member of Parliament Richard Lumu of Lumu Kizito & Co Advocates to represent her in the case.

Promise of Marriage and Changing Dynamics

According to court documents, Namulindwa’s relationship with Kanyike began in 2008 when she was a student.

She contends that she had initially rejected his advances, but eventually agreed to start a relationship with him after he promised marriage.

The couple began living together in 2009, and Namulindwa gave birth to their first child in 2012.

She asserts that Kanyike reaffirmed his commitment to marry her following the birth of their first child, and even donated land in Masanafu, Rubaga Division, where Namulindwa built a two-bedroom house and rental properties.

However, after the birth of their second child in 2023, Kanyike’s attitude changed, and he became indifferent, failing to contribute to the family's upkeep.

She also claims to have investigated and established that Kanyike was sleeping with other women.

Legal Action and Property Dispute

Namulindwa now seeks protection from the court and is asking for the Masanafu property to be declared her lawful possession.

The property, valued at Shs200 million, has become a point of contention, with Kanyike reportedly demanding a share of the rental income and even attempting to force Namulindwa to vacate the property.

Additionally, Kanyike has allegedly denied being the father of their second child, despite a DNA test confirming his paternity.

Namulindwa is seeking a court order to prohibit Kanyike from entering the property and has also requested that he reimburse her for the legal costs she has incurred during their disputes.
