Songstress Naava Grey had golfers and guests singing along to her melodic tunes last Saturday as she headlined the I&M Bank Katogo Golf Series 2025 season opener’s 19th hole experience at Entebbe Club.
Naava took the stage shortly after the prize-giving ceremony, where top performers received trophies and prizes, including air tickets, nights at Serena Hotels, and various goodies. Cheers erupted, especially from the ladies, when comedian Salvador, the event host, announced Naava’s arrival on stage.
After two songs, Naava left the stage, dancing through the audience and sharing the mic with golfers and guests. Her setlist featured fan favourites like Soka Lami, which had the crowd singing along passionately. The energy soared when she performed Nteredde and Ninga Omuloge, prompting fans to demand a replay.
Naava’s soulful performance fully immersed the crowd, delivering a captivating set that elevated the evening. The party continued even after her performance, with a visiting DJ keeping attendees on the dance floor until the early hours of Sunday.

I&M Bank’s Head of Marketing and Corporate Communications, Annette Nakiyaga, expressed gratitude for Naava Grey’s performance, saying it set an exciting tone for the year.
“This is just the beginning,” she said. “Each edition of this year’s I&M Bank Katogo Golf Series will offer golfers a unique and memorable experience, both on and off the course.”
Meanwhile, Team P&B, comprising Bob Matisiko and Peter Atwine, and Fairway Zokka, featuring Edith Wamala and Suzan Achieng, emerged as the overall winners in the men’s and women’s categories, respectively, in the first round of the 2025 I&M Bank Katogo Golf Series.
Earlier in the week, golfers participated in a quiz competition at Entebbe Club. Winners, including journalist Allan Darren Kyeyune, Brian Walusimbi, Serwano Walusimbi, Helen Kisinde, and Evelyn Atukunda, received a bottle of Johnnie Walker Gold Label Reserve each.
The season opener, played under the newly introduced ‘Rejected’ format, attracted over 150 golfers. In this format, golfers paired up and teed off normally, but their opponents decided where they would play their second shots on 12 of the 18 holes. On these holes, teams entered their best net score, while on the six holes where they played from their preferred positions, they recorded their worst score as the team’s final score. All pairs had to be of the same gender.
The second quarterly edition will take place on May 31, followed by the third on August 9, with the grand finale set for November 29.
