The Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has unveiled plans to host a Rastafari event and appointed Minister of State for Youth and Children Affairs, Balaam Barugahara—who is also a renowned events promoter—as the project lead.
“To all my black brothers in the Americas, I want to say we love you very much. In 2026, I’m going to call the first Rastafari Conference in Kampala,” Gen. Muhoozi posted on Sunday afternoon, December 29. “I will put Hon. @BalaamAteenyiDr in charge of that project. The International Rastafari Conference must take place in 2026!”
Barugahara enthusiastically accepted the role, saying: “Thank you, my supreme leader General @mkainerugaba, for entrusting me with the incredible opportunity to lead The International Rastafari Conference in 2026. I’m deeply grateful for the confidence you’ve shown in me, Supreme Leader.
“I pledge to work tirelessly with the entire Rastafari community to ensure this event is a monumental success. I’m thrilled to confirm that Ziggy Marley, Lucky Dube’s family, and all top Rastafari artists will be in attendance.
“Thank you again, General @mkainerugaba, for this honour. I won’t let you down.”
He further added: “Wish to confirm Top Rasta Chronix will feature as well & @BebeCoolUG will be the stage manager. It’s going to be massive.”
Barugahara has officially assigned Bebe Cool the role of stage manager for the event.
