Renowned road safety advocate Joseph Beyanga, better known as Joe Walker, partnering with Coca-Cola Beverages Uganda (CCBU) successfully completed the fourth edition of the Joe Walker Road Safety Walk, which took place from February 24 to March 7, 2025.
The walk, which covered approximately 340 kilometres from Kampala to Gulu, aimed to raise awareness about responsible road use and accident prevention.
As part of its ongoing partnership with Joe Walker, CCBU once again served as the official hydration partner for the initiative, providing essential support to ensure that participants remained refreshed throughout the journey.
CCBU provided Rwenzori Pure Natural Mineral Water and carbonated soft drinks, crucial for hydration during the long trek.

Promoting Road Safety Through Engagement
The Joe Walker Road Safety Walk has become a significant platform for engaging communities on road safety issues.
Along the route, Joe Walker and his team hosted various outreach programmes, including school visits where they educated students on the importance of road safety and responsible behaviour. The team also engaged boda-boda riders in special activations, encouraging them to adopt safer road practices.
In addition to community outreach, the campaign included discussions with traffic police officers to promote collaborative efforts in improving road safety measures.
One of the key activities during the walk was the painting of zebra crossings to enhance pedestrian safety, further solidifying the campaign’s commitment to protecting vulnerable road users.

A Partnership for Change
Kirunda Magoola, Public Affairs, Communication, and Sustainability Director at CCBU, spoke about the company’s ongoing commitment to road safety.
He highlighted CCBU’s role in fostering safer communities, noting the success of previous initiatives like the 'Zero is Possible' campaign launched in 2022 to reduce road accident fatalities.
Joe Walker expressed his deep appreciation for CCBU’s continued support, acknowledging the vital role the partnership has played in sustaining the campaign over the years. He emphasised that the shared vision between CCBU and his initiative is to create safer roads for all Ugandans.
The Joe Walker Road Safety Walk is a clear example of how community-driven efforts and corporate partnerships can come together to make a meaningful impact on road safety awareness in Uganda.
