Spurs are currently fifth in the Premier League table, two points off leaders, Everton. They could (and should) have been in an even stronger position had they not suffered late lapses in home games against Newcastle United and West Ham United.
Indeed, it is quite ironic that while Tottenham have the maximum nine points from three matches away from home this season, they have managed to pick up just two points from the same number of home matches.
Mourinho's were poor in their opening day loss to Everton, but they should have comfortably beaten Newcastle and particularly West Ham, against whom they let a three-goal lead slip in their subsequent home games.
If they can sort out that dodgy home form and turn the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium into some sort of fortress, they will be very hard to stop.
In fact, many betting sites in Kenya now have Spurs as third favourites to win the league, behind Manchester City and Liverpool.
Tottenham look like they finally have an identity under Mourinho. Apart from the funny lapse against West Ham, they have generally defended very well this season, and have been irresistible going forward, especially on the counter attack.
They are the league's top scorers with 16 goals, having scored five and six at Southampton and Manchester United respectively. Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son have formed a devilish partnership, while Gareth Bale is still waiting to be fully unleashed.
The midfield also looks super solid, with Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg providing the base in front of the defence, and acting as the starting point for most of Spurs attacks.
Mourinho is a man on a mission
Jose Mourinho is a very proud man, but that pride has been dented in recent times. Sacked at Chelsea, sacked at Manchester United, and deemed to have passed his prime by pundits and analysts.
Mourinho has never been one to shirk a challenge, and he has definitely come out punching this season, determined to prove the naysayers wrong. He has looked happy, focused and relaxed; bad news for the rest of the Premier League!
The Spurs board clearly believes in Mourinho, as evidenced by the club's transfer activities during the summer window.
Tottenham have been fairly quiet in the transfer market in recent years, but they opened up in the summer, adding significant quality to the squad.
They did not exactly splash the cash, but they made a number of shrewd signings, including the sensational loan deal for Gareth Bale seven years after he left the club for Real Madrid.
Matt Doherty joined from Wolves, Sergio Reguilon arrived from Real Madrid, Hojbjerg from Southampton, and Carlos Vinicius from Benfica,
They look to have assembled a set of players capable of taking Spurs to the next level.
Spurs can profit from open season
It has been a very strange start to the new season, with all the big guns looking very fallible. Champions Liverpool were shockingly destroyed by Aston Villa, and have now lost defensive stalwart, Virgil Van Dijk to a knee injury for a significant portion of the season, while Manchester City have looked very vulnerable.
Pep Guardiola's men have already lost 5-2 at home to Leicester, and haven't been able to get over the line in away matches at Leeds and West Ham.
Chelsea were the biggest spenders during the transfer window, but their new signings are yet to find their feet, while Manchester United continue to flatter to deceive.
Tottenham have not been perfect, but they are not alone in that boat.
If they stick around this title race for long enough (and there's no reason to think that they won't), they have as good a chance as anyone to cross the finish line first.
If you are a betting man, you may want to make an early investment in Tottenham Hotspur winning the Premier League. That option is available at decent odds on betting sites like Betway!
In Jose Mourinho, Spurs have got the master at composing a title challenge.
