How Vampino feels about not being a shareholder in Swangz Avenue

Sometime back MC Kats ranted about how Julius Kyazze had convinced his partner Benon Mugumbya to kick Vampino out of Swangz Avenue.

While speaking to Ruth Kalibbala Bwanika in a recent interview, she sought answers from the horse's mouth.

"Some people complain, why don't you have a percentage? Why don't you have a percentage? But the biggest percentage I've is being the founder of this thing and it is making a big name," said Vampino, who also noted that Kats, real name Edwin Katamba, was partly right.

"That means my dream is already partly being shown... Something we saw as a joke; to me, that even makes me more happy... We don't need to look at money first... Look at what you initiated, how far it is going. How far these guys have taken it!"

At the time Mugumbya started Swangz Avenue as a music production studio, he was one-half of Benon and Vamposs.

In fact, the startup capital to acquire equipment for the studio was raised during the duo's foreign music tours. They first performed in Europe and later in the U.S.

It was after their return from the U.S. that Mugumbya opened his studio in Muswangali Zone along Salaama Road.

Before leaving for the U.S., he had been with Fenon Records and Steve Jean told him to choose between working for him or going on the music tour. He chose the latter.

It's while at Fenon that Mugumbya met Kyazze who was then a dancer. Julius Kyazze owned a dance group called Eclipse Dance Group and Steve Jean used to hire them to dance for Blu*3, among others.

So, when Benon started Swangz, Julius proposed to him how they could make more cash if they teamed up. The former bought the idea and it's now safe to say he made the right decision.
