Reason?... She wouldn’t say.

The celebrated former Golden Band singer revealed this week that she prayed and continues to pray that none of her kids pick serious interest in the industry.

Lord help me… I don't want my kids to be in this industry,” she said in a YouTube interview.

And for now, God has been gracious that none of my kids have shown interest in singing.”

Her eldest daughter Whitney, who is 23 years old had recently shown interest in her mom’s talent. The two even put out a collabo titled “Yamuliziza” in 2020.

When asked about this, Nantume revealed that she told her daughter to seek another career path.

She stopped. I told her to stop,” Nantume said.

It is unclear what drove Nantume to dissuade her children from following in her very successful footsteps.

But as a famous artist who shot to the top through singing in big music bands, Nantume has seen her fair share of controversy and fights with fellow band members.

Recently, Nantume announced that she’d given her life to God.

She’s also slowed down on her music output to concentrate on her family and plans to release more gospel songs in the future.

During the interview, the singer also spoke about the upcoming battle between fellow female artists Sheebah Karungi and Cindy Sanyu.

Nantume stopped short of mentioning which one she supports, but said she was looking forward to the battle, slated for September 15 a the Kololo Independence Grounds.
